About D&B Mobile Mechanic

A Van, a Toolbox and Two People

D&B is David and his wife. The logo on the van has both of them on it, which is not a stock graphic, and customers who have met them at a breakdown tend to mention both. One review describes the pair of them turning up at a Kroger parking lot on a Saturday afternoon within fifteen minutes of the call.

The van is a Ford Transit Connect with drawers down one side. That is the shop. It goes to the car instead of the car going to it.

Where the Work Comes From

Nacogdoches, Lufkin, San Augustine, Center, Garrison and Central Heights are the named area. Stephen F. Austin State University sits in the middle of it, and a good share of the work is student cars, with parents calling from Dallas or Houston because they are too far away to help.

The rest is the ordinary business of an East Texas county. Work trucks, older cars kept running on purpose, travelers who broke down on US 59, and people who were turned down by every shop in town because everybody was booked.

What Honest Looks Like Here

The word customers use most often in these reviews is honest. The specifics behind it are worth more than the word. One says he did not try to sell extra work. One says he chased down a battery somebody else had sold her and used the warranty to replace it. One says he showed the problem over FaceTime to a father three hours away.

There is also a list on this site of the work D&B will not take. Glass, body work, tires, alignments, transmissions, engine swaps and PCM programming. Publishing that costs work, and it saves everybody a wasted trip.

Se Habla Espanol

David speaks Spanish. Customers have left reviews in Spanish. There is a page on this site in Spanish, and calling and speaking Spanish is normal rather than something to warn anybody about.
