David came out and did a wonderful job replacing the starter on my Honda CRV. cranked right up the first time. He was on time and did a great job.
Car Will Not Start in Nacogdoches
A car that will not start is the job D&B gets called for most, and almost none of those cars need a tow, because the fault is usually a battery, a starter or a connection that can be tested and replaced in the spot the car died.
At a Glance
- Tested first, so you pay for the part that actually failed
- Done where the car sits, at home, at work or in a parking lot
- Starter motors, batteries, cables and charging faults
- Most jobs finish in one visit, same day

Why a Tow Is Usually the Wrong First Call
A car that will not start feels like a big failure. Most of the time it is a small one. The starter has given up, the battery is dead, or a cable end has corroded until it cannot pass current.
None of that needs a shop. It needs someone with a meter and the right part standing next to the car. The tow is what turns a one visit repair into a bill with two lines on it and three days without your car.
Crank, Click or Nothing
What the car does when you turn the key narrows it down fast. A single loud click usually points at the starter. Rapid clicking usually points at the battery. Silence points at a connection, a switch or a relay. A car that cranks strongly and never catches is a different problem again, and that one is fuel or spark.
David asks you what it sounds like before he loads the van, because the answer changes what he brings.
Tested Before Anything Gets Replaced
A battery that reads fine at rest can still drop under load. A starter that works cold can fail hot. So the test is done with the car in the state it failed in, not on a counter.
One of his customers had been sold an old battery by somebody else. He found it, went and used the warranty on it, and came back with a new one. That is in her review on this site, in her words.
When to Call About No Start

- Dash lights go dim or die while cranking
- It started fine yesterday and is dead this morning
- It starts when it is cold and refuses when it is hot
- Turn the key and nothing happens at all
Customers on This Kind of Job
David is very professional, fair, and knowledgeable! I don't ever leave views about stuff but I feel like this guy deserves one ! I called him in complete panic, I had been turned down by every shop I had called in nac due to being so busy or it was out of their expertise. My car was not staring and doing weird things ! I had already ruled out the battery ! He was able to come to my location later that evening and completely looked over my car , trying to problem solve my issue ! By the end my car was starting and running ! He also spent extra time and educated us what he was doing and why and gave us pointers !
Wonderful experience! My vehicle would not crank, and I did not want to pay a tow fee. I searched Mobile Mechanic in our area and I read D&B's reviews and I am so glad I went with him. Very personable, upfront, honest, on time, and respectful. Not only helped with the vehicle, helped with our battery charger and gave us tips for future problems.
Questions About No Start
Can you come out if my car is in a parking lot?
Yes. A lot of these jobs happen in parking lots, at apartments and at work. D&B is a mobile mechanic, so the car does not have to move before the repair starts.
How do I know it is the starter and not the battery?
You often cannot tell from the sound alone, and guessing costs money. Both get tested on the car before either is replaced.
Will I need a tow after all?
Sometimes, and you will be told plainly if so. The work D&B does not take is listed on this site, so that call comes early rather than after an hour in your driveway.
