My son attends SFA, and I live several hours away. When his caliper seal failed and caused a brake line leak, I called D&B. He quickly got us on the schedule and went directly to my son's location. He diagnosed the issue and replaced the caliper, brake pads, and rotors onsite. My son said he was extremely friendly and professional, and we will definitely use him again when needed. I am very grateful to D&B for taking care of my son, especially with me being several hours away.
Mobile Brake and Rotor Replacement
Brake work is measured before it is quoted, so you find out how much pad you actually have left instead of being told a number by somebody who never took the wheel off.
At a Glance
- Pads, rotors and calipers, front or rear
- Wheel comes off and the pad gets measured, every time
- Done on your driveway or in your parking space
- You get told what is fine as well as what is not

Measured, Not Guessed
Pad thickness is a number. Either there is material left or there is not. The wheel comes off, the pad gets looked at properly, and you hear the number before anyone talks about money.
Surface rust on the edge of a rotor is normal and harmless, and it has sold a lot of brake jobs to people who did not need one. A lip you can catch a fingernail on is the thing that actually matters.
Calipers and Brake Lines
A caliper that sticks will eat one pad and leave the other alone, drag the car to one side under braking and cook that wheel hot enough to smell. A failed caliper seal can take the brake line with it and start leaking fluid, and that is not a repair to put off.
A father in Dallas called D&B when his son at Stephen F. Austin had exactly that failure. The caliper, pads and rotors were replaced where the car sat on campus. His review is on this site.
Noise Is Information
A high squeal that stops when you brake is usually the wear tab doing its job, and it is telling you to book something soon rather than today. A grinding you feel through the pedal means the pad is gone and the rotor is being cut, and that one is today.
A pulse through the pedal at speed is usually a rotor problem, not a pad problem, and swapping pads alone will not fix it.
When to Call About Brakes
- Squeal that appears when you are not braking
- Grinding or scraping when you slow down
- Pedal pulses or shakes as you brake from speed
- The car pulls to one side when you brake
- Pedal goes softer or travels further than it used to
- One wheel gets much hotter or dirtier than the others

Questions About Brakes
Do you do brakes at an apartment complex?
Yes, as long as the car can be jacked on level ground. Most brake jobs on this site were done exactly there.
Can you just do pads?
If the rotors measure fine, yes. If they do not, you will be told why pads alone will not hold.
Do you do wheel alignment afterward?
No. Alignment is on the list of work D&B does not take, and that list is published on this site so you know before you book.
